As we celebrate nearly 100 years of family history for the Beehive Cabin, it is only fitting that we look forward to the next 100 years, too. Those descendants of Alma Alsleben Shaw and Leon Franklin Shaw have enjoyed many family memories here, and it remains a sanctuary today, even in its rustic state.

The family stories include fishing and crabbing, beach walks and treasure bags, rowing the boats, catching salamanders, building fires and the 4th of July. We learned to play cards, chop wood, and cook in the old wood stove. We made sour dough pancakes and had large family gatherings. We shared space together and made memories for each of us.
As we look forward to the years ahead, we honor Alma and Leon, and their children Leonard, Howard and Barbara, as the memories of family times are preserved, and new stories unfold. The coast is a special place and Rockaway Beach, Oregon will always hold dear memories of our Grandparents. There are many more years ahead for the Bee Hive Cabin and our family.
